In fibromyalgia the nervous system becomes overly sensitized, so that it responds to regular movements with a pain response. It is possible to retrain the system to respond normally to movements, but it has to be done in a certain way. Most people are way to aggressive with the type of exercise and stretching they do, which often makes the pain worse.

We teach you simple pain free stretches, mobilizations and drills that you should do each day to re-train your system. We also show to test your own nervous system’s response to exercise, so that you can make sure that you are relaxing the system, not stressing it out.

When you know how to do this, you can reduce your own pain levels. And this is a really important part of the process. Life happens and sometimes things flare up, so you need to know how to calm things down your self.

Inflammation Reduction

Inflammation increases the sensitivity of the pain receptors. This means that when the body is inflamed it contributes to the sensitization process that causes you to respond abnormally to normal movements. Inflammation is created by your immune system, so this part of the program is about removing the different things that can trigger your immune system.

Sometimes the immune triggers are obvious, like if you get bloated when you eat bread.  But often the immune triggers are less obvious and they take a little more figuring out. For example, you might be reacting to a cleaning product you use at home. With the use of diagnostic testing we help you identify what is triggering your immune system and help you create a plan to restore balance.

You will learn how to avoid foods that cause inflammation in your body. We will teach you delicious recipes that nourish your body and help to strengthen it. When you and your family love the food you eat, it makes the lifestyle much more sustainable. The best part is that once your body is working better we find people can re-introduce many of their favourite foods anyway.
